History
Care2Serve might be new but our team have been actively supporting carers in Tasmania for more than 27 years.
Way back in 1992, an idea formed that grew into a grassroots movement of carers and service providers in 1993 before evolving into Carers Tasmania, a statewide not-for-profit organisation committed to enhancing the health and wellbeing of carers in Tasmania.
For a number of years, Carers Tasmania split their operations between supporting carers directly through a range of different services, and promoting the rights and needs of carers as a peak body and advocacy. With the launch of the National Carer Gateway, we thought it was time to clearly delineate these important roles.
Care2Serve will function as the Tasmanian provider of the National Carer Gateway support services, putting carers needs first and connecting them with practical advice and early intervention support services. Our mission is to improve the health, wellbeing, resilience and financial security of carers.
Carers Tasmania will operate as a peak body, working with government, health and community sectors to enhance service provision and improve the conditions for family carers through policy development, research and advocacy. Carers Tasmania’s goal is to ensure that caring is a shared responsibility of family, community and the government, and that carers’ voices are heard and their contribution to the Tasmanian community and economy is recognised.
