Frequently asked Questions

Yes, our events and Carer Support Groups are only open to carers registered with Carer Gateway. However, we occasionally hold larger events, such as the Carers Expo, which are open to the public.

Registering with Carer Gateway is easy and free. You can do this by phone or online. Simply call 1800 422 737 (press 1 at the menu) to speak with our friendly team, or submit a referral form, and one of our team members will contact you.

There is no cost to attend our retreats and workshops.
Submitting an Expression of Interest (EOI) indicates your interest in attending an event. However, submitting an EOI does not guarantee your spot. Your attendance will only be confirmed once a member of our Events team contacts you to confirm it.

Once you submit an EOI, you will be placed on a waitlist. Closer to the event date, our Events team will call/email you to confirm your attendance, along with all necessary information such as meeting time, location, and any requirements for the event.

Carer Gateway events are open to registered carers only. If you are unable to leave the person you care for, please let us know in advance as we may be able to put in a request for respite depending on the availability. If your friend is a registered carer, they will need to submit their own EOI and follow the registration process.

If you aren’t sure how to get to an event, please talk with our team who can let you know what transport options you might be able to access from your community.

Please call us at 1800 422 737 (press 1 at the menu) if you can no longer attend an event for which you’ve received confirmation. If your EOI wasn’t accepted and you haven’t heard from us, then there’s no need to inform us.
We publish our event calendar quarterly. Carers are informed about new events via post (a printed copy of our calendar), email, or social media depending on their preference to receive communications from us.
