When you neglect yourself, you can inadvertently neglect other people as well. People such as family and friends who may not need our help, but just our presence now and then. Not that our families would ever say that to us. They know what we do and what we feel we have to do.
But we can often do too much and get ourselves into a sort of codependency role, a state of mind where we think we’re indispensable, where we might feel every minute we can spare, we must give to the person we care for. And sometimes we just need to step back, fill our cup, and reconnect.
Having a break will lift your spirit, which in turn will help you to lift the spirits of the people you care about.
